My vision for all of us is that we practice a kinder way of relating to ourselves. One where…
- We reach out and connect to others in the moments we feel like hiding
- We see the adaptivity in all parts of ourselves, even the tough ones
- We seek to understand ourselves through curiosity and openness
- We isten to our limits and see our needs as worthwhile
- We learn from our mistakes and forgive ourselves
The problem is, we live in a culture that can be very shaming, in so many painful areas - from our productivity to our parenting, to our relationship with our bodies.
Shame is an intense, wholebody experience that we all need to find ways to cope with. When left unaddressed, shame causes us to hide away, lash out, withdraw from others, or berate ourselves. It affects our relationships with others as well as our relationship with ourselves.
Because of its pervasive and all-encompassing nature, shame needs to be treated differently than other uncomfortable emotions. That’s where shame resilience comes in.
Shame resilience starts with being able to identify shame and take a step back from it when it arises.
The purpose of this course is to provide you with 6 concrete tools you can use to help support that resilience.
As a beginning, here’s my gentle reminder:
You are not broken. You are not a mistake.
We experience shame because we’ve been shamed.
And, you can start to feel whole again.
